First Spring Kids 2011
This has to be the best time of the year. There is an air of expectation. It is like Christmas but just warmer. Our sweet Bella is now a mother. It seems like just a day or two ago she was that little kid being bottle fed in the kitchen. We try to stay as close to home as possible with the sheep and goats having babies. However, work does get in the way. It pays the bills so I am very thankful. But I have to leave the babies! Oh to win the lottery and pay off all of the bills and stay home. Oh, sorry. Lost in a daydream. Back to BABIES! We came home and Bella was all done. She had a little doeling we named Molly and a buckling we named Ernie.
After all of that work a new mother deserves warm water with molasses to give those cells some energy and get that colostrum flowing.
Here is Molly with her ears still wet. We toweled her dry and put all under the heat lamp to warm up.
Ernie poking his head out to get a good view of his new world.
After a couple of days it was warm enough for the kids to go out. We still had snow on the ground but the temps are rising.
Little Molly is curious of everything. She seems to be a bit more brave than her little brother.
Beautiful babies! I think those kind of surprises are even better than Christmas. So glad everything went well.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a beautiful pair of goatlings. We are looking forward to getting our first goats this year. We have lots of preparation yet to do, but the weather is finally looking like spring here and we should be ready soon. Looking forward to seeing more of Molly and Ernie in your future blogs.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love 'family' stories. But, where are the Peanuts? There should be some Peanuts somewhere in this story!
ReplyDeleteOh, my gosh, I love them! It must be just amazing to see those little sweethearts in the springtime. I don't think I'd be able to stop cuddling them! Too cute!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations - great feeling to come home and everything is well and good with new babies and mom.
ReplyDeleteNothing as sweet as goat kids - your Molly looks like she could have been out of our herd of nubie crosses.
ReplyDeleteOh my they are adorable-I assisted-unexpectedly-- in delivering 3 little kidds yesterday at my brothers-1 was expected!- I've tried writing you on email and it keeps getting rejected? Have posted several comments on ur posts and they get rejected also! Well enjoy those little kids-they are fun!!~~Rain
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Kelly!!! Ours aren't due for another month although the yearling mom's are wishing for it any day.
ReplyDeleteBTW....as I looked at your header....I can tell you why you still have snow...take down the Christmas Wreath on the barn!!! :) I see them still hanging on doors occasionally and it gives me a good laugh and let's me know that I'm not the only one running behind!
So glad everyone is healthy and doing great. They are so sweet! ~Lili
