Smoked Meat and Easy Cleanup with Dawn

We have been having warmer temps and with the good weather we wanted to break out the smoker that Sue gave Ted for Christmas.  Oh, it has been hard to see this treasure sitting in the kitchen just waiting to be used.  Keep in mind that we have never smoked meat before.  Our experience with smoke meat has been limited to traveling to Winterport and eating at 4 Points BBQ & Blues House. By the way, the best BBQ that I have ever eaten.
We thought what the hay, why not try it.  So we broke out the smoker.

 
Rubbed the chicken and turkey with season salt. 


We followed the directions enclosed with the smoker. 

Ted loaded the smoker 

Okay, lamb ribs, rolled roast, chicken and turkey all in one shot.

For a first timer we did very well.  The chicken and turkey was tender, fall off the bone good.

The lamb ribs actually fell off the bone.  We found that apple wood chips were better for the lamb. Ted took a trip to Home Depot and bought a bag of each kind of chips available.  We now have Hickory, Mesquite, Apple, Cherry wood chips.

I bagged the remaining meat up and put it into the freezer for future meals.  I don't think we will be going out for BBQ anymore.  We have the meat from the farm and we know what went into the sauce.  I was so amazed at how easy it was to clean up the smoker after it cooled.  We had sprayed the racks with Pam to make it easier.  When I find a product that really works I like to tell everyone.  Well we found two. Both by Dawn.  The Power Clean will break down cooked on food in about 5 minutes.
 The other is the spray by Dawn, Power Dissolver.  For really hard to clean items this works sooooo great.

glad your meats turned out good! it is almost time for me to make some ribs on the big green egg. i am going to buy both of those products on my next shopping trip!

WOW that looks delicious! Was it easy to use? We've been looking at getting one & keep putting it off.

When the Goatmother was growing up (I know that was soooo long ago), her dad had a grocery and they were famous for their Kielbasa and Bar-B-Que'd ribs. People even flew in from New York to Oklahoma just to get it. 'Dad' always used apple wood in the old smoke house so Ted done good. :) They also brined the meat first (for future reference) :)

All right Ted. I love smoked meat, fish and cheese. If you have never tried smoked meatloaf do so it is delish.
